Rory stood up on a jagged piece of rock by the lake. It was big enough to stand on.. Big enough to do a speech on and that seemed to inspire him as he paced on it a little, joint in his hand as he smoked it as though it were a cigar. He had a look on his face of feigned importance as he stared out at the invisible crowd in the water, nodding in approval.
"You people are lucky to be there," he told them, looking like a comedian mocking a dictator. "Lucky to be in my very great and all-powerfully amazing presence," said the Irish teenager in his thick accent, arms wide and head to the sky like an Irish Jesus. "I usually charge for this, you know?" he informed the non-existent crowd.
There was no one there but that had never stopped Rory before. He paced some more but before he could say another word, his foot slipped, eyes widened and his arms flailed about in a dramatic fashion.
The boy fell to the ground, jaw fell in a silent scream before words came out, "ffffffffuckk," he swore at the pain before turning to lie on his back and gripping his foot. His injuries were very minimal. "It's like someone pulled out my sooul!" he exclaimed to no one but himself.. "through my tooee!" he whined, pulling his shoe off and throwing it behind him (and possibly hitting someone in the process). He checked his foot. It looked fine but it had hurt.. That and Rory tended to be a little melodramatic at times.

Hope let out a sigh and pulled her jacket to her body as she walked the grounds of Pinewood. There was really nothing for her to do now. Dinner would probably be going on around this time right now, and she had no homework to do. So what better to do than walk the grounds and just relax, think? That could do no harm, right? Of course not, except for the excessive thinking that usually turned into depressing thoughts and then it all just went downhill from there. But she had tried not to go down that road, because honestly.. she just wanted one day where she didn't feel worthless or numb. That wasn't too much to wish for, was it?
Honestly, this place wasn't half bad, when she didn't think of it as an actual mental/rehabilitation building. The people here didn't tease her like the one in Houston, or.. well.. most of them didn't. There was always the few that thought it would be funny to terrorize the students, just like any high school. The only difference was, all of the students here were nutsos, or were close to being nutsos. So she didn't mind it here, except when it came to going to her therapy sessions and taking her medication. That was almost what her life consisted of now, though, so.. she hated it here as well.
She snapped out of her thoughts when she heard someone exclaimed about their toe, close to the lake, and she looked around with her eyebrows pulled together. She didn't see anyone! So what the hell was going on? Then, before she knew it, a shoe came towards her face and hit her right on her forehead, "What the hell!" she exclaimed, frowning. She walked towards where the shoe came from, but not before picking up the shoe in her left hand. She looked down and, she saw the boy. Her eyebrows raised up as she watched him, "Uh.. did you lose your shoe? And are you okay?"

Rory's could feel his heart beat in the big toe of his left foot. He had hit it hard but when you think about it, it was really quite minimal. The seventeen year old could have hit his head, broken an arm or even his neck. A stubbed toe was really not that bad when you thought about it.
Still, Rory was clutching to it like his life depended on it. He face twisted in pain, all scrunched up and uncomfortable but there was no one there to see it, at least as far as he was aware.
Rory gasped and moaned in pain as he grasped his socked left foot. He rolled back onto his back in time to hear a voice. His eyes widened as he stared up from the ground at an upside down face.
She was so pretty. "Are you an angel?!" he asked in that thick Irish accent. "Am I dead?!?" he asked almost hysterical. "I'm dead! I've died!!" he declared, finally letting go of his foot now but still staying on the ground to stare up at her.

Hope looked down at the boy, waiting on him get up and say he was fine, or just ignore her.. something. Really, nothing looked wrong with him, he was just clutching his toe on his left foot. He looked in pain, though, which made her wonder what exactly he had done. It couldn't have been too bad, could it? She didn't think so. It was just a toe.
Finally he looked at her, but when his eyes widened and he finally spoke... well.. it was definitely something that she didn't expect. A laugh spilled from her mouth when he asked her if she was an angel in that irish tone of his.. which yes, she definitely noticed,, because.. honestly, why in the world would he think that?! She was Hope! Just Hope! She shook her head, while he started going into hysterics about how he had died, "I'm not an angel, calm down! Goodness!" she said, after she had calmed down from her laughter, even though small laughs came out while she spoke, "You didn't die, you're still at Pinewood.. What did you do, anyway?" She asked him, because he obviously thought that it was bad enough for him to die and see an 'angel.'

The angel laughed! And it was a pretty laugh.. Like bells in a snowflake on the top of chocolate cake! Rory still freaked out though. He had to be dead.. How come clouds felt like damp grass? This wasn't right! His thick brows furrowed in confusion. No! This wasn't death.. Maybe it was wonderland.. Maybe he had hit his head hard and Seb had been right all along and he really was the March Hare and this was wonderland! But then who would this girl be? Definitely not Alice! That Cassie girl was suppose to be Alice.. Maybe the Cheshire cat? She did have a nice smile after all!
But them.. Maybe she was the queen of hearts! "Are you the Queen of Hearts?!" asked the Irish teen. "I have to tell Seb! He's been lookin' for you!" he told her before rolling off to the side and sitting up on the ground. She looked huge from there! But then he was looking up at her. "You're HUGE!" he said with exaggerated shock.
"I did not do a thing," he said before retracting that with a new contradictory comment, "I fell off my pedestal," he said, gesturing wildly at the rock he had been standing on. "How'd you get to be 7 feet tall?" he asked, squinting up at her from his seat on the ground.

Hope just looked at the boy like he was crazy as he went on about how she was the Queen of Hearts. She shook her head, making her brown curls move around, "Noo, I'm Hope! Just Hope!" she said, trying to get him to see that she was just.. who she was. She didn't understand why he kept going on about all these things, "Did you hit your head or something?" She asked, after he started talking about some guy named Seb, "I'm not her! This isn't Wonderland! It's Georgia!"
Her eyes widened when he said that she was huge and she straightened up some, putting her hands on her hips, "I am not!" she said in a defending tone. This guy was on something, or hit his head damn hard, that was for sure. He was acting so silly! She gave him a look, before looking over at the rock, "No wonder you fell! Are you crazy!" she said, frowning over at him, "You're going to fall off a rock like that!" She raised her eyebrows, before holding a hand out for him, "I'm not... I eat my vegetables. That's how. Now, get up."

"Hope!" he said loudly. "That's exactly what I need! A bit of hope!" he said, hope that he would get out of this place and back in with his parents but they had basically given up on him now. They had put up with enough and refused to put up with anymore of his crazy antics.
"No," he said her, shaking his head before suddenly stopping. "I feel dizzy now.. Like I'm going to throw up or something," he said, but he wasn't really. "Maybe I did hit my head!" he said, eyes wide for a moment. "Georgia!" he repeated. "Are you sure?" he asked, confusion struck his features again. No wait, that was right.. Pinewood was in Georgia.. Or something.. maybe? He didn't know! He wasn't exactly paying attention, was he?
It all happened so quick! Yer dad's got a job in America! Let's all go! Pack yer things! We're sendin you to a school there for crazy people like yerself! He glanced at the rock when she did then back at her. She still looked huge to him though. "I'm not crazy! I'm.." he paused for a moment, "Psychologically challenged!" he told her.
He took her hand but didn't try to get up. Instead he pulled it a little closer to examine it. "Oh my god! It's so soft!" he said in amazement before scrambling to his feet, still holding her hand. "You're definitely an Angel," said the Irish boy with a cheesy grin.

She couldn't help but let out a little laugh when he said that he needed a little bit of hope, but she nodded her head any way. Everyone here could use a little hope! They had been dropped off at a school for the messed up, and... that was that. There was nothing else that they could really do about it. A little hope in this sad school was something everyone needed.
She rose an eyebrow at him when he aid that he was going to throw up, "Are you sure? You don't look like you're turning green. isn't that what people do before they puke?" At least, that's what cartoons did. She knew that people didn't turn green, but they normally went a little pale, "I think you did.." she said, looking at his curly hair, "But maybe your hair helped with the fall a little bit." It was curly enough, it seemed! She nodded her head when he asked if he was sure that they were in Georgia, "Yep, I'm positive!" she said, giving him a small smile, "Eauton, Georgia.. Pinewood Academy."
"I was kidding, you're not crazy. You're just acting silly," she said with another nod of her head, reassuring him. She wouldn't really call anyone here crazy unless she had a good reason to... like if they came to be some psycho.
Hope's eyes widened a little when he pulled her hand closer to him, before laughing as he started going on about how soft it was, "Well.. thanks?" she said, not sure how to respond to that! But hey, she'd take it! She watched as he got to his feet, before looking up at him, "What makes you say that, Irish boy?"

Rory decided that he liked when she laughed and smiled.. It was a nice smile! Why wouldn't he like it? "What?!" he asked, looking like it was crazy. "People don't turn green!" he decided. "We're not Aliens," he informed her.. At least he wasn't that crazy.
He looked offended at the comment about his hair. "My hair is perfect," he said, stroking it like a weirdo. "It saves lives," he let her know.. Obviously if it had helped him then it did! Therefore it was life saving hair! It made perfect sense!
Rory listened when she smiled and told him exactly where he was. "You're so smart," he said with a grin. Just for knowing where she was. Smart girl! It was more than what he had after all.
"But I'm not acting!" He said with a frown.. This wasn't acting at all. He just was what he was! There was no pretending and not exaggerating. He was just himself and if she thought it was silly then.. It was! She might be right! But that was fine.
"You're welcome, Hope," he said, remembering her name now and keeping it all in his mind now. He grinned when she asked him why. "Because!" he said, looking down at her now. "You just are," he said with a grin and shrug. "A very small angel," he said laughing at his own thoughts. She was cute and little! He liked that about her!

Hope shook her head, "They do when they're about to get sick! At least, that's what I've been told! Like.. a shade of green in their face!" She said, before shrugging her shoulders, "Maybe they were lying to me." She agreed with him on the aliens thing, she didn't even think that they existed, "well, I know that much!"
She put on a smile and nodded her head as he talked about his hair, "It is pretty damn extraordinary," she noted, as he stroked his own hair, "It saved yours! That fall could have been real ugly." she said, just pointing that out. Of course, any fall where you landed on your head could be ugly and end up bad, but that was common sense.. right?
She let out a small laugh, before nodding her head, "I listen in class, I know things," she said, though she didn't really. She just knew that she wasn't in Houston any more, which he definitely didn't mind. The question was, why would this irish boy come to Georgia? Unless he came just for the school, just like Marcus did. But not everyone would do that, right? This school wasn't that good, she could tell you that. She smiled a little at him, before nodding her head, "Okay, you're not acting. But hey, I didn't say it was a bad thing."
"Well, you know my name.. but I don't know yours. What's your name, irish boy?" she aked, sticking with the nick name she had given him for now. It was simple, but it had a nice ring to it, she liked it. She rose eyebrows up at him, before slowly nodding her head, "Okay... I'll take that!" she said, not going to complain about being called an angel, "I'm not that small! You're just a giant!"

"Well I've never seen it happen and I've seen a lot so it's probably not true!" he decided, despite the seriously flawed logic. A lot of things about Rory were seriously flawed. It was all perfectly normal to him now. "You were probably lied to," he said, nodding in agreement.
"Thank you!" he said still stroking his hair. He appreciated the compliment. "It could!" he agreed. "It was a massive fall!" he told her. "You should have seen it, it was dramatic and film worthy!" he told her with wide eyes and an over-interest in absolutely everything.
He grinned at the pretty, smart angel. She was so much fun! And they didn't even have to do anything! They could just talk and it would be fun! "Oh, really?" he asked.. It wasn't a bad thing? That means it's a good thing! "You like it don't you?" he asked with a grin.
"I'm Rory Lappin," he told her with a grin, "Or the March Hare, dependin' on who you ask," he told her, still grinning like this was a good thing. "I'm not a giant!" he insisted. "You're very small," he told her again. "But that's not a bad thing," he said with a grin. It was a very good thing!

"What do you mean you've seen a lot?" She asked him, actually really curious. She had just turned around the conversation at this point, because it wasn't going anywhere!
She watched him with an amused expression, because he was an interesting character. She hadn't met anyone quite like him here, and she had been here for some time so that was saying something. She knew quite a few people here at this school, because she tried to talk to everyone that she could. Who knows, maybe someone could use a friend.. or an enemy. Sometimes she made enemies, "I don't think I would have wanted to see it! I would have freaked out!" she said, shaking her head. She always made a big deal out of what could be nothing.. but that wouldn't have really been nothing. Not a fall off a damn rock!
She let the smile stay on her lips as he asked if she liked it.. his silliness, the way that he acted, "I do. It's a nice change from how others act here. They're all gloomy and sad," She said, but she didn't mention that she was usually one of those people. Today was a good day.. he caught her on a good day, she wasn't going to ruin that!
"Well, Rory, it's nice to meet you!" She said, a grin coming to her lips as well, "Who calls you the March Hare?" she asked him with a curious look on her face. That was a peculiar nick name, but.. she liked it. She wouldn't, however, be calling him that anytime soon, "You are a giant! What are you? Like 50 feet tall?" she joked, "I'm normal height!" she insisted, but she knew that she was very short, "Being small is a good thing?"

"I've live my whole life, haven't I?" he asked rhetorically. "Of course I've seen a lot!" he said as though one childhood was enough to gain a life time of experience. He hadn't actually seen a lot but he liked to think he had.
"Yes, you would, it was horrible," he told her, "And I hurt my toe and I lost my shoe," he told her. He hadn't really lost his shoe, he threw the thing behind him some where so that didn't really count as being lost.
"Ah yes," He said, like he was recalling old memories. "Gloomy and sad never really works, does it?" he asked, "I don't do gloomy and sad, not usually," he assured her. "I'm up mostly.. Not so much down," he explained without actually telling her very much at all. He had a way with words and stretching them out but not really saying anything.
"And it's very nice to meet you!" he told her, even giving her a little bow. Girls loved that sort of thing. "Seb does," he told her. "That's my best friend. He's actually a little bit crazy. He thinks Wonderland is real. He's the Mad Hatter, I'm the March Hare and this Cassie girl is suppose to be Alice or something," he explained. "I know it's not real but it's still fun," he said with a shrug.
"I'm not. I'm only 6 foot," he told her. "You should see my dad, he's 6'6'' but my mum is little like you so that's why I'm not quite so tall," he explained, giving her his whole family history. "It is when you're a girl," he told her. "Guys like that sort of thing," he said, still grinning and holding on to her hand.. He just never let go of it but it was nice and she hadn't said anything about it..

"That doesn't really mean you've seen a lot! That just means you've lived for so long! You could have been like.. guarded and not seen anything in life," she pointed out. It was really logical, because there were some people whose parents kept them away from the world on purpose. Probably a good idea.
"No, I wouldn't. I wouldn't want to see anything horrible!" she said, shaking her head, "You didn't lose your shoe," she said, holding it out to him. She had been holding onto since she walked over here, "It hit me in the face when you threw it."
Hope shook her head when he said that, a smile on her face, "It never works," she agreed, even though she was one of those people. She tried not to show it a much, becaue she didn't like people asking what was wrong with her. Like any normal person would do, "I can tell. You've been pretty upbeat, even though you've hurt yourself," she said, the smile widening a little.
She let a small laugh/giggle fall from her lips when he bowed for her. She was a sucker for that thing, and it was silly.. just like he was. When he explained what Seb thought, her eyebrows rose up in interest. That was.. different, she hadn't quite heard anything like that at all. It sounded like children playing pretend, "Well that.. is interesting," she said, not knowing what to say about what Seb thought. He was inclined to think whatever he wanted to.
"Still.. you're really tall," she said, nodding her head after he talked about his family height. She put on an amused smile when he said that it was a good thing to be small, if you were a girl. Apparently guys liked that sort of thing, "Well, that's good to know," she said, laughing a little at the end. She had noticed that he was still holding her hand, "You're still holding my hand," she said aloud, just putting it out there. She would probably take it away in a minute, but hey.. whatever.

"I've seen a lot!" Rory insisted, his eyes drifting down to her chest. "Not everything," he admitted with a cheesy grin "But definitely a lot!" he told her, eyes defaulting back to their usual position.
"You found my shoe!" he declared, taking it from her and roughly shoving it back on his foot. He seemed to completely miss the fact that he had been the one to throw it but after it was back on, everything else seemed to click into place. "How's your head?" he asked, hopefully his shoe hadn't done too much damage.
"Hurt myself?" he asked with a grin and a confused look like he didn't know what she was saying but was still amused by it. A second later his eyes widened. "Yyeah! I did, didn't I?" he asked rhetorically with a grin and a nod like it was amazing that he had done it in the first place.
"It certainly is different," he agreed with the same silly grin. "You know, I could probably get you in on that. Convince him you're somebody in that movie," he said, ignoring the fact that it was a book. He barely even knew all the characters himself but Rory didn't have to. It was Seb's delusion, not his. He just went along with it and made it up as he went.
"I'm not that tall," he told her, hunching his shoulders a little for her benefit. She spoke up, point out that he still had her hand. "Am I?" he asked with that lopsided grin. He looked down, holding it up, "I do," he said happily. "This is nice," he decided. "I think I'll keep it!" said the Irish teenager.
