Senseless Denial, We spun like birds on fire right down towards the residence and i I took all that I desired even crooks have to pay the rent We swam like rats on fire right, right down the reservoir We took all that we could carry but we tried to carry more Life was interesting; in one moment, things could change. At least, that's how it happened for the young latina that was laying in the common room, on a sofa, staring up at the ceiling. In one moment, everything for her was good, amazing actually. She had her brother, they were spending time together.. she had friends that seemed to have cared for her. And then one night, one stupid night ruins everything in only a second. She not only lost her brother, but her friends and the life that she had created for herself. Now, here she was, in a mental institution, for Major Depression and an eating disorder. It was interesting how all of that worked, how one traumatic event could turn everything around on you and make you feel worthless.
In all reality, it sucked that this had happened, but in a way, she was living in her own world and had never experienced real life. It sucked that this was what it took for her to open her eyes and realize that there really were major fuck ups in life and being at that party, just being around alex had been a major mistake. She covered her eyes with her arm and let out a sigh, shaking her head. It was ridiculous, that this was always on her mind. It was either Alex, Connor, or that night. she was always thinking about it. It was a haunting memory that she couldn't block out, but she refused to talk to her therapist, so she couldn't know a way to do that. They'd probably tell her to 'face her fears' which she had tried to do, but it's harder than it looks sometimes. People make it look easy!
"Ugh," She let out a frustrated groan and finally sat up, before actually getting off of the sofa and walking over to the vending machine. She put in her dollar, before looking at the selections for a minute or two. Honestly, she didn't even know why she was acting like she had to make a decision, she always got the same thing every single time. She rolled her eyes lightly to herself, before pressing the button for a mountain dew, and taking it out once it had appeared. She quickly opened it up and took a sip of the green drink and letting out a sigh, savoring the taste for a moment, before moving back over to the sofa. Honestly, she should be in her room, doing homework that just seems to keep building.. but she couldn't bring herself to concentrate on it.

It hadn't been long ago when Marcus walked through those doors to the entry way of this, fine establishment. He already liked the look of it, and the look of the people in it. They were just the people he wanted to be around. He felt powerful in a place like this. Sure, he was constantly being escorted and watched like a baby. But see that's the thing. He loved the attention. He loved that they felt the need to watch him, it made him thrive. And Marcus, thriving was most definitely not a good thing. He had his plans in his head, and soon he'd have all the fun with the pretty little roses, and shy little mice. And the idiots who ran this place, wouldn't even know.
He was escorted from his room, to the common room. He was allowed only certain amounts of free time, being as he was a level five, so they called him. It was amusing that they tried to level him. He saw the other level fives, and thought they were no match for him. Then again, this boy had a lot of hubris in him. The guard stood by, letting Marcus wonder around the common room. He eyed the place, searching for someone to have a little fun with. His eyes landed on a girl getting a soda. He watched her as she grabbed the sod, holding back a smirk. His eyes roaming all over her, and boy did he like what he saw. HE glanced back at the guard, knowing that it was his job only to act if Marcus had actually done something wrong. Obviously Marcus talking to a girl was pure innocence. He was just trying to get better...right?
He made his way over to the girl and smiled politely. "I don't think i've seen a girl enjoy a soda that much."He grinned at her, before chuckling lightly. "It may just be the fact that I wasn't aloud to have soda back home."His German accent wasn't harsh, but you could still tell where he was from when he spoke. "Sorry..if I'm intruding. Uh..May I?" He gestured toward the vending machine, seeing as how the girl was standing in the way. He smiled politely, his voice kind, even sweet. Pulling this act, was never a hard thing. In fact it was his favorite way to lure people in.

Senseless Denial, We spun like birds on fire right down towards the residence and i I took all that I desired even crooks have to pay the rent We swam like rats on fire right, right down the reservoir We took all that we could carry but we tried to carry more It was never strange to constantly meet new people here, but she had never known that so many people in this world, especially in just the United States, had something wrong with them. But, it all made sense, of course. Society had come up with this certain idea of 'normal' that so many people just couldn't fit into. So, if you didn't fit into that, you were considered weird. Something was wrong with you, you needed help. If you saw something people didn't, heard something people didn't.. they thought you were weird, crazy. While those things could drive you to the brink of insanity, sometimes it just helped people get by.
Hope had once been considered normal, she fit into that category. She had been the popular one, the pretty one. Both Jeans had fit into that category at one point in time. She was the pretty cheerleader, Connor was the popular party boy. They seemed perfect. Of course, her brother had never been perfect, being grabbed by addiction. The only time Hope had been pulled from the normal category, was after that one traumatic experience. She constantly wondered, if she had just kept quiet, would she still have those friends? Then she reminded herself, that they were only friends with her because of her social status at that school. While telling her brother what happened had only ignited the fire even more, causing everyone to hurt her.. to go against her, she probably would have ended up in the same situation. Hating herself, feeling worthless just because of what had happened to her. Because of that night.
She was pulled from her thoughts when she heard a voice talking to her. She looked up and saw a face that she had never seen in the place of Pinewood. Her eyebrows raised up at him, before looking down at the Mountain Dew in her hand, "Or it could be that I pretty much love Mountain Dew. I don't get to drink it all that much," she said, shrugging her shoulders. It was really that she didn't get to drink it much, as much as she didn't allow herself to. Because of all the calories.. Calories add up. When he spoke again, she looked behind her to see that she was, in deed, in front of the vending machine, "Oh, sorry," She said, giving him a small smile, before moving out of his way, "It's all yours."

Marcus knew the girl must have been in thought, which was good. It was perfect to catch them off guard, when they aren't thinking fully of their surroundings. It usually means that they didn't see him coming in with an escort, and well that's not usually a good thing in a place like this. He smiled at her words and shrugged. "I've never had it, so I wouldn't know if it's that good." He smiled again, charming, entrancing. "But I'll trust your words for now." If she liked it, then it must be good.Okay, so maybe he was being a bit of a flirt, but the guy couldn't help it.
When she moved he smiled. "Danke." Okay, so he had to speak a little German, test out what made the girl tick, and well there was plenty of females who swooned over a simple word in a different language. He looked over the content, not sure of what to get here. He knew she'd walk away if he didn't start up small talk, so he cleared his throat. "I haven't been here long, actually..I just arrived a few days ago from Berlin." He paused for a moment picking a water over the sugars. He grabbed it and looked back at her. "It's not that bad right? I've heard some bad things in the past few hours." He smiled sheepishly. Who wouldn't fall for the innocent lost boy who doesn't know much about the place, let alone America.

Senseless Denial, We spun like birds on fire right down towards the residence and i I took all that I desired even crooks have to pay the rent We swam like rats on fire right, right down the reservoir We took all that we could carry but we tried to carry more Hope's eyes widened a little when he said that he'd never had Mountain Dew before, just because everyone that she knew had tried it at least once. And it wasn't just because the Jean siblings had made them at some point in time, "That's just a crime.." she said, shaking her head. She would just have to get him to try it soon, then. It would be an accomplishment if he wound up liking it, too. She nodded at him when he said that he would trust her words and she smiled a little, "Good, because it's awesome. And I never lie." Or she tried to, at least. Lately the only thing that she would lie about, would be how she felt. She would always say that she felt fine, that she was happy. Of course, she would never fool her therapist, but she didn't really care at this point.
The smile widened on her lips a little when he spoke in, what was it, german? Just because she had always been one for other languages, it was why she had taken it upon herself to learn French. And of course, she already knew spanish, thanks to her mother. You never knew when you would need to use another language. She took another sip of the green soda that was in her hand, right as he started talking again. Her eyebrows rose up as he looked over at him, watching him choose what to drink, "You came all the way from Berlin, to crappy Georgia?" she asked him, curiously. And she thought that coming from Houston was a big move, but obviously not. She shrugged her shoulders at him, because she didn't really know how to answer it, "It really all depends on how you look at it. Some people like it here, some people don't. I hate it here, but that's just me.." She didn't really want to say, 'oh, it's awful. it'll be the worst time of your life' because she didn't want to disappoint him. He'd just have to experience it for himself.

Marcus laughed at her shock. It was simply adorable. Why someone would care so much about a simple soda? He had no idea, but if it got her to like him, then why not go with it right? He sighed. "I wasn't allowed many sweets at home, so coming here is giving me a little freedom in a sense." He smiled. "Though..fo freedom, I don't do much with it." He indicated toward the water he got. When she said she never lied he raised a brow. "Would it be wrong of me to be under the suspicion, that, that was actually a lie?" He wasn't being mean, just teasing. Anyways, who could resist that smile of his?
Marcus could see the curiosity in her, and it made him smile. He always liked it when they were curious. When they didn't seem to take interest in him, well..that's when Marcus used his less fun techniques. Though watching a girl react to a drug in her drink, well that was entertaining. "It's a long way, but my parents found this to be the best place for me. and I don't mind it. I mean, I've already met someone who has proven to me that it may not be so bad." Such a charmer, So smooth, and always hinting compliments to the ladies. But he of course played off as the innocent foreigner very well at the same time. He tilted his head in curiosity. "Ah..well many opinions of a place are good to keep in mind. Why do you hate it?" He smiled and shook his head. "I feel like that's a bit of a silly question to ask."

She let out a small laugh, before nodding her head, "I'm only human, so.. I guess I do lie from time to time. But I try not to!" she defended herself, a smile on her lips. She knew that he was teasing, it was so obvious. But hey, she wasn't going to blow him off. He was being nice, and.. he was cute. Though, she so wouldn't admit that out loud.
She almost laughed out loud when he said that his parents found this place, Pinewood, to be the best.. all around. If they had just walked around the grounds of this place, she knew that people would know that there was something off about it, but she kept it to herself. She wanted people to have their own opinions of this place, not her own. Even though most of the students did have the same opinion as she did. A small tinge of pink flsuhed across her cheeks, but it wasn't terribly noticeable, and she pushed some of her curled hair behind her ear. She moved the green bottle around in her hands as he asked why she hated it here, before she shrugged her shoulders, "It's not a silly question," she said, shaking her head, "I just.. don't want to be here? It doesn't seem to help me any. I've been here for months, and I don't feel any different." She had been here since October, and nothing has helped. Sure, she felt a little different when she was taking her medication, but it didn't help much. She still had those thoughts, that urge. And Lord knows that they haven't helped with her anorexia.

Marcus laughed and nodded. "Yeah, but wouldn't indulging a little, also be good for me? Maybe not health wise, but it's good for the mind and soul." He smiled. He was just being silly now. Marcus nodded in agreement. "We all lie at some point in our lives." Behind his facade he was amused as ever. He happened to be lying to her about everything already. Not a single thing he said, or acted was true. Okay, well she did give him a reason to stay. And he couldn't help but imagine that smile turning into a frown, and her eyes filled with tears. Oh yes, that gave him a reason to stay. Who would want to miss that? She wouldn't even see it coming. "Oh my..where are my manners?" He laughed and shook his head. "My apologies, I haven't introduced myself. I'm Lucas." He smiled brightly at her, holding out his hand.
Marcus smiled at her, before taking a sip of his water. He watched all of her movements, the brushing aside of her hair, the rolling of her soda bottle. He watched everything she did. He was getting to know her habits. Seeing if she had any. When she started talking he paid close attention. He nodded towards her. "Ah, well that makes sense. If the place doesn't seem to help you, you'd of course want to be somewhere else." He chewed on his lip, and looked at her innocently. "Would..it be too much to ask why you are here? I understand if you don't want to answer, it is a very private topic." He smiled weakly at her.

It would just make him all hyped up on sugar, more than likely.. which was probably good. It was fun! He seemed nice, she liked that. Of course, she had met many nice people here. She never judged a book by its cover; the cover being that they were here, at some school for the fucked up. Of course, she didnt really know the boy, but if he seemed nice, he couldn't have something too much wrong with him, right? No one was that good at faking, she knew that she wasn't. She looked down at his hand after he introduced himself, before putting on a smile and placing her hand in his, "I'm Hope. It's nice to meet you, Lucas."
She let out a breath and nodded her head, again, at him, "Yeah.. but I mean, it's not Houston, so I'll take it," she said, shrugging her shoulders. She was states away from the boy that hurt her, so she was going to act happy about that. She felt safer, knowing that he couldn't get to her while she was here. She let out a nervous laugh when he asked why she was here, "Everyone always asks that.." she mumbled to herself, looking down. She wasn't proud of why she was here, so she didn't really like talking about it, "Um.. It's..." she said, shrugging her shoulders, "It's something I don't like talking about. It's a kind of.. sad topic."

This smiling and socializing was starting to take a tole on Marcus, in fact he was slowly beginning to hate how he sounded, but it was all part of the process. And usually made the attack on his victim much more violent. Like he was letting out all the rage he had bottled in. But he just smiled on, making sure he kept the mask on, no matter how much he wanted to take it off. He took another sip of his water.
Her hand was soft, and he liked it. Those creepy thoughts going on in his mind again, he just couldn't control it. He held it for a moment, shaking it, like people normally do. He tilted his head and smiled. "The pleasure is all mine." He bowed his head slightly towards her. "Pardon me for saying this, I don't want to sound too forward, but you have such lovely eyes. So silky and kind." He smiled charmingly. Yeah, that was too forward.
Marcus looked at her curiously. "Why do you seem to hate Houston so much? Then again, I wouldn't ant to be in my hometown either. Too many memories I don't want to relive." It was half true, he'd never go back to his home town. Sure, he only remembered the side of his mother his father drilled into his head, but if he went back, who knows what he'd start remembering. Marcus nodded when she said she didn't want to talk about it. "It's alright, I understand completely." He smiled kindly.
